Shaping the future of education: Review, respond to Ohio’s Draft Strategic Plan

A series of meetings is planned for educators, parents and community members to provide input on Ohio’s Draft Strategic Education Plan. Since the plan will be Ohio’s roadmap for setting education goals and addressing major education challenges, your expert voice is needed to inform this strategic plan. OFT's Resident Educator Program webinar available online

View at your leisure OFT's webinar explaining the changes to the Resident Educator Program (REP). It is available on demand on the OFT website for those who missed it live or would like to review it again. In the webinar you will hear the differences and what remains the same in each year of the REP and Resident Educator Summative Assessment. This webinar is the first in a series to be produced by OFT's Professional Learning Committee. Learn more.

Free college for OFT members

Yes, it's true - free college. OFT members can enroll in Eastern Gateway Community College's online distance-learning program with no costs for tuition, fees or e-texts. Credits earned can be transferred to a four-year college. Learn more.

Comment by March 12 on revisions to Ohio’s extended science, social studies ​standards

​T​he Ohio Department of Education ​is seeking your suggestions on Ohio’s Learning Standards in Science and Social Studies – Extended. ​Your feedback ​is important to inform how or whether these standard are improved to better prepare students for the changing expectations of their options after high school. ​Share ​your thoughts about the standards via this survey open through March 12.

PD addresses new gifted requirement

New professional development requirements for those who are the identified provider of services to gifted students prompted the Ohio Leadership Advisory Council to launch new resources to help districts better support gifted students and adapt to the revisions of Ohio’s gifted operating standards. Developed by nationally-recognized experts in gifted education, these free resources can be used for individual or group-based learning. Learn more.
