ODE seeks participants for validation studies on assessments

It is critical that  practicing classroom teachers participate in validation studies to ensure Ohio Assessments for Educators are credible. OFT is working with ODE to identify teachers willing to participate in validation studies for the new Elementary Reading Assessment and the revised Middle Grades Content Assessments to be held this spring. The Pearson group will host and organize meetings and online surveys. Teachers who have been recommended in the past will be considered; however, ODE would like to collect a larger pool of nominees to accommodate Pearson in selecting a diverse group of participants.

Nominees should have a minimum of five-years of teaching experience. Teachers are needed in the following areas:

Elementary Reading Assessment - Recommendations for participating in the validation study and score setting process for the new P-3/4-9 reading assessment for teacher licensure:

  • Teachers currently teaching and holding a Professional (or higher) Early Childhood (P-3) Intervention Specialist teaching license
  • Teachers currently teaching and holding a Professional (or higher) Early Childhood (P-3) teaching license
  • Teachers currently teaching and holding a Professional (or higher) Middle Childhood (4-9) teaching license

Middle Grades Assessment - Recommendations for participating in the validation study and score setting process for the revised Middle Grades 4-9 assessments for teacher licensure:

  • Teachers currently teaching and holding a Professional (or higher) Middle Childhood (4-9) Reading-Language Arts teaching license
  • Teachers currently teaching and holding a Professional (or higher) Middle Childhood (4-9) Mathematics teaching license
  • Teachers currently teaching and holding a Professional (or better) Middle Childhood (4-9) Science teaching license
