College guidebook targets underserved students
The Center for Student Opportunity, a national nonprofit group that helps first-generation, low-income, and minority students bound for college, has released a "College Access & Opportunity Guide." The publication highlights more than 225 colleges and universities with programs for college access and retention aimed at historically underserved college-bound students.
The American Federation of Teachers has released a policy statement titled “Academic Freedom in the 21st-Century College and University.” The document provides specific standards for protecting the academic freedom of all faculty and instructional staff. The statement also offers a road map for protecting academic freedom through activism, collective bargaining and political action.
