This year's Union Leadership Institute (ULI) workshops improved members' skills and understanding of topics such as alternative compensation plans, interest-based bargaining and revitalizing the union through internal organizing.

To prepare them for the process and environment of a state House or Senate hearing, a dozen OFT members participated in a day-long Union Leadership Institute program to learn how to deliver testimony. Members often are called on to testify in order to explain how proposed legislation would impact schools and students.

Union Leadership Institute is a training and leadership development program designed to provide union members with the tools they need to improve their skills, both in their profession and in their union.

Nearly 100 OFT members participated in this year's Summer Union Leadership Institute, a training and leadership development program to help meet licensure requirements while broadening skills as professionals and union members.

More than 50 OFT members participated in four workshops March 15 to improve their local operations and services. The one-day Union Leadership Institute (ULI) featured trainings on member mobilization, communications, the new educator code of conduct, and deciphering budgets to aid negotiations.
