The AFT, joining with Save the Children's efforts to actively engage students in the fight to end child poverty, is developing classroom activities and resources for pre-K through 12th-grade teachers that echo Save the Children's core values and support its Valentine's Day card contest.

The AFT Educational Foundation is looking for civics teachers to participate in an exciting new project to build an international democracy memory bank. The Civic Voices project, funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, asks students to gather oral history interviews from inspiring citizens who helped advance human rights and freedom around the world.

Are you interested in learning about education in other cultures? The Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program provides opportunities for K-12 teachers to participate in direct one-to-one exchanges of positions with colleagues from other countries for a semester or academic year.

Funding Simulations for School Districts Available Online
District funding simulations for 2010 and 2011 are available on the Ohio Department of Education website. At the bottom of the page choose the year then your district from the drop down menu. Note: this resource provides only a simulation of the funding calculation and does not show adjustments or amounts that will be transferred to other educational entities such as the education service centers, charter schools or other school districts through open enrollment, etc.

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center reveals stories about freedom's heroes, from the era of the Underground Railroad to contemporary times, challenging and inspiring everyone to take courageous steps for freedom today. Using the Underground Railroad as a lens through which to explore a range of freedom issues, the Freedom Center offers lessons and reflections on the struggle for freedom in the past, in the present, and for the future. And it helps visitors discover the power of one voice - shared with many - by speaking out about the meaning of freedom.

American Labor Studies Center
The American Labor Studies Center collects, analyzes, evaluates, creates and disseminates labor history and labor studies curricula and related materials to kindergarten through 12th grade teachers nationwide. Materials cover areas such as the history, organization, activities, and issues affecting the labor movement and the political, economic, and cultural aspects of workers and their unions.
