The State Board of Education is made up of 19 members - 11 who are elected and eight who are appointed by the governor. The chairs of the education committees of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate serve as non-voting ex officio members. The Superintendent of Public Instruction serves as secretary of the State Board of Education.

The State Board of Education meets on the second Monday and Tuesday of each month, except August, with some committee meetings beginning on Sunday. The meetings are held at the Ohio School for the Deaf, 500 Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio, unless otherwise noted. The Ohio Department of Education has enhanced its Stimulus webpage to increase its user-friendliness. Changes include:

• More detailed information about each of the fund areas;
• Updated categorization of information; and
• Information about grants related to education, but not administered by ODE.
