The Northern Ohio Returned Volunteer Association (NORVA) offers PAGE (Promoting Active Global Education) Grants in support of its mission to help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of all Americans. NORVA’s PAGE Grant budget for the 2008-2009 school year is $2,000 and we anticipate awarding several grants with this money.

Any teacher in the ClevelandMetropolitanSchool District for the 2008-2009 academic year is eligible for a PAGE Grant. All teachers, including physical education, music, art, special education, and ESL teachers are encouraged to envision ways to incorporate global education into their curriculum.

NORVA will consider all grant proposals that address one or more of the following goals:

  • Promote awareness of world cultures and peoples
  • Create a connection to a larger world community
  • Integrate global education / awareness with interdisciplinary curriculum
  • Strengthen geographic skills for proficiency testing
  • Increase knowledge and deepen understanding of a particular region or country
  • Compare and contrast cultures, history, peoples, and geography

To learn more about the PAGE Grant program and to obtain an application, send an email to pagegrants@yahoo.com. All information requests and applications will be handled strictly by email.

Completed applications must be submitted via email to NORVA by November 3, 2008. NORVA members will review proposals and determine grant recipients by December 1, 2008.

About NORVA

NORVA members include returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCV’s), family and friends of current Peace Corps Volunteers, VISTA volunteers and any other interested community members. NORVA incorporated in 1979 for the purpose of helping RPCV’s fulfill the third goal of Peace Corps service, which is “to bring the world back home.”

Throughout the years, NORVA has been involved in a variety of activities that provide assistance in the local community, raise awareness of international issues, and maintain connections with current Peace Corps projects throughout the world.
